Embark on a whirlwind tour of Latin America, with the latest and greatest in Latin music, from the Dominican Republic's sensual Bachata with its cheeky Merengue rhythm, through to hot Cuban Salsa and Chachacha. Stirling Salsa’s championship winning instructors will introduce you to some EASY Salsa steps with a FUN Beginners dance class. The Doune and Dunblane Fling is an annual festival of music, culture and family fun. Fling by the River will be back at the Drying Green below Dunblane Cathedral on Saturday 26th May 2011, with a packed programme of music and family fun. We are still finalising the line up for the day so check the website for updates over the coming weeks. Confirmed so far: 12 noon The pipe band leaves the Cathedral and heralds the start of the day's activities 12.15pm Fling by the River 2011 is officially opened on the Drying Green 1pm Rotary Duck Race (if you haven't got your duck yet, their stall will be open on the Drying Green before the race) Remember all the entertainment is free of charge! During the day there will also be lots of stalls from local community groups offering activities and information.

Soul-gripping songs, blazing bagpipes, fiddles and accordions, electrically fused with the urban sounds of rock and funk - Skerryvore are a multi award winning Scottish band creating a ‘nu-folk-rock’ fusion for the 21st Century. Skerryvore formed in 2005 on the Isle of Tiree in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides. From traditional roots the band have developed both in size and sound to create a unique fusion of their traditional music and songs with the urban sounds of rock and funk. With their outstanding musicianship and the mesmirising voice of singer Alec Dalglish, Skerryvore have become an international sensation, performing worldwide in cities such as Chicago, Beijing, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Prague, Dubai, as well as performances at premier festivals such as T in the Park.

Dunblane Road Race (1:00 pm - 6:00 pm)
Entry Entry is only available online. No postal entries are available. No entries are available on the day. Race Numbers These will be available from the race registration desk at The Dunblane Hydro Hotel on the day of the race. The registration desk will close at 12.30pm. Please arrive at the race venue in time to collect your race number. Start / Finish The race starts and finishes in the grounds of Dunblane Hydro, Perth Road, Dunblane FK15 0HG. Parking There will be no parking available for participants in the grounds of the Dunblane Hydro Hotel. Parking is available within easy walking distance – Click here for more information. The Course After exiting Dunblane Hydro the route heads north through the village of Kinbuck. After crossing the River Allan at Cromlix Bridge (3 miles) it turns left and follows Auchenlay Road back towards Dunblane. After re-entering Dunblane the route follows Doune Road, Springfield Terrace, Sunnyside and back on to Perth Road for the return to the Hydro. Safety The route will be well signposted and marshalled. There will be a pre-race briefing. Please remember that the roads are open to traffic and you are responsible for your own safety for the duration of the event. Particular care should be taken towards the end of the route at the Fourways Roundabout and on the turn back into Dunblane Hydro. Results Results will be made available as soon as possible after the race and posted on both this website and Scottish Athletics website Prizes There will be cash prizes in each category. Charity Profits from the race will be donated to charities in aid of Sports Development in the local community.

Returning after last year's debut success, the Dunblane Folk Club will host an evening of haute cuisine and even ‘hauter’ tunes in the Braeport’s café-bar room (BYOB). You will be feasted with the best dishes from the newly published High Street Cookbook, and entertained with a mix of Scottish and world music (bring your voices and instruments if you want to join in). Everyone welcome. Fairtrade tea and coffee available free courtesy of CafeDirect and The Co-operative.
